5 Projects Anyone Can Make With a Cricut!

There are a number of materials you can use with your Cricut, for almost any craft you may need and you can read about it in my last blog post here. Today, I want to share my favorite projects I have made with my machine as well as walk you through what materials you would need to complete the project.

  1. Stencils for a painted design


This project can be customized to your liking in Cricut Design Space by adding additional words, customizing a name, or adding shapes, or you can use a ready-to-make project. This project was made from a wood canvas from any craft store. I got mine here. This project stencil can be cut with either normal removable vinyl or stencil vinyl. In my opinion, stencil vinyl isn’t worth the money, use contact paper instead if anything. You will also need a host of tools like a pick to take out the reverse details you won’t need for your stencil. On this specific project, I used a scorch marker to wood-burn the words and painted the truck with acrylic paint. If you chose to wood-burn, you will need a heat gun and the scorch marker. All together this took about an hour.


  1. You can make custom bottles! 


I made this bottle as a Christmas gift for my boss and she loved it! It was a premade design available on Cricut Design Space, but since I wanted it on a yellow bottle, I had to add an offset on the sun which is an easy-to-use feature Cricut just added! For materials, I got the bottle at Walmart for $1 as well as the permanent vinyl. This whole design took around 15 minutes start to finish!




  1. Make blankets that will never fade.


I made this blanket for my best friend who lives in New Jersey. I wanted this blanket to withstand more than a normal blanket because I knew it was going to be used to sit on, covered up within the rain and snow, and would be a shade on those hot concert days. For this, I also got the blanket at Walmart. I decided to use Infusible Ink rather than normal iron-on vinyl because I knew it could handle the elements. Since this design is larger I had to cut multiple pieces and puzzle them together, it took about an hour to do it properly.




  1. Make custom ornaments! 


Around Christmas time I made my boyfriend and my father matching Jeep ornaments. I love making people custom items for their birthdays or for Christmas. This one was a little messy since I basically put a bunch of paint in an ornament and shook it until I got the desired look, but it was still cute! For the Jeep logo and the grill that is on the other side, I downloaded an SVG from Etsy. Not including drying time for the paint, this project took about 15 minutes.



  1. Make custom hoodies and shirts! 


I make countless different designs for shirts and hoodies, including just font, layered vinyl for multiple colors such as the bottle above, as well as countless other font-only designs. This one was made with iron-on vinyl, a Gildan hoodie, and a Cricut Easy Press. The easy press makes pressing designs super fast so altogether this design took less than 10 minutes.



This is only a small number of projects you can make with a Cricut. I have yet to explore cutting fabrics, or pieces of wood, but with the number of tutorials online, anyone can learn!
